I purchased one of the remote shutters as suggested above. It looks a little 80s with the extendable aerial! It works very well though and I just used it on a trip to Norway. I can operate the camera from quite large distances and it's mostly fairly reliable. I can't imagine it will last very...
This is an interesting option. My assumption is the RMT-P1BT will probably have a similar range to using my phone with the Sony app, this alternative option likely gives far more range.
I have a Sony A7IV and hike solo a lot with it so want to take photos of myself easily. I use the Imaging Edge app from Sony to connect to the camera and use the remote shutter but the range is awful and it randomly disconnects all the time. It's every so slightly infuriating. I also use the 10s...
I’m looking to get a weeks photography/hiking trip booked for May or June, have any of you experience of Lofoten or Faroe Islands at this time? Lofoten looks significantly cheaper. Car rental is massively cheaper for a start!
I’d be interested in other similar locations if there are...
I have a flight to Geneva late October. No plans beyond that other than probably spending the week in Switzerland and using the train. Car rental isn't that expensive though, so this is also an option. I will possibly finalise location choice last minute depending on weather.
Where in...
I’m of the opinion that it’s easier to just keep everything. I never delete. Storage is cheap (mostly!).
I use a MacBook Pro so cannot increase internal storage.
My current thought is this:
- External SSD as primary storage (maybe only 2TB for now)
- Export processed images to separate folder...
I am at the point where I need at least a couple of TB storage and that's increasing. I'm unsure on the best approach.
How do you manage all your storage?
It cannot possibly take that long. They've had years and years to streamline the process. The camera also got announced 6 weeks ago, and was circulating for reviews prior to that, so they could have started the process months ago. It just surprises me that this isn't planned properly by Adobe...
It does surprise me that Adobe didn't add the A7 IV to Lightroom a long time ago. Surely Sony should be sending them the details early so the A7 IV actually works with one of the most popular editing applications?
I just purchased a Glover and Howe policy after reading positive reviews from people that have made claims.
This is the first time I’ve insured camera gear but thought I’d do it for at least the first year of brand new kit.
I took the A7 IV outside my house for the first time today! Into a storm. Very strong winds and hail.
One point of note is the battery drains fast. I come from a 5Dmk2 and the battery lasts forever on that.
Which SD cards are the best to go for? I have a few of the SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I V30 cards but could do with some V60 cards. I have no intention of buying the crazy expensive Sandisk V90 cards!
To be fair it is over 10 years old and has had a fair amount of fairly rough use hiking all over the world. I’m surprised it lasted this long! I’ll keep it forever as I’ve had good times with it. It’s earned it’s retirement on my shelf.
