I'm not aware of a 24mm F mount DX lens, but a 24mm F mount lens will work perfectly, with a few exceptions, the older D lenses were screw driven, not all Nikon DSLR's will work with these lenses. I've purchased many items from Japan, and never had a problem.

I'm pretty sure the electronic Nikon's does the same as the FG, it stops the shutter and mirror locking up if you're putting a fresh film in with the lens cap on or a body cap on, obviously this wouldn't happen with a manual camera like the FM etc.
