Just for the record I bought a s/h Panasonic GH1 (now up to GH4) and absolutely love it for a travelling camera. I also have a Nikon D3 for serious work but the GH1 goes everywhere with me. A great system. I also use Takumar lenses vi a cheap Ebay adapter but then again my photography is more...
I have the Lee 10 filter holder and whilst the 100 x 150 grads are fine the polariser (B+W) is a tight fit and I don't carry the filter holder in it.I can just about do up the zip. The material is soft in terms of filter protection but I doubt its waterproof. Haven't found anything better as...
You could buy a cheap Nikon to Canon off Ebay and then an old manual AI Nikon lens if your happy with a prime. This will give you manual control of the exposure.
As an update Sendean have just quoted £600 + vat for a shutter replacement :( being £300 for the part and £300 for the labour. It must take them several days to replace it or they have extremely well paid technicians. Will get a quote from Fixation and Nikon.
Cheers
Thanks to all who replied. I'm curious to investigate Sendean in terms of price and warranty. I assume "shapeshifter" was happy with the work. I will get pricing from Nikon and Fixation anyway
Cheers all.
Doh!! :( You are correct of course I meant Shutter replacement. I have been into Fixation for something else. I guess the part(s) would be the same price wherever you go. I was horrified at the labour charge that Nikon were quoting for some other work but maybe its fairly consistent?
Thanks

My Nikon D3 has a high shutter count (ex-rental when I bought it) and in anticipation of it packing up would be interested to hear of suggestions for a replacement apart from Nikon. Berkshire based but visit London and its suburbs quite frequently. Obviously cost important as money may be...
Well I guess not just for video but being a videographer you often need to adjust the camera level quickly and also to make sure its level in 360 so if you pan during the shot the horizon stays level. For photo you've usually got more time or in most cases you can correct wonky shots in post. If...
I bought a s/h Pana GH1 and use my Nikon AIS primes (28 and 50) on it to great effect using Ebay adapters. These lens of course have manual aperture. You can get a G lens Nikon to m4/3 adapter but is hit and miss re aperture. Needless to say these lenses are used with manual focus.
Google Manfrotto Panoramic heads in YouTube and you'll discover videos produced by Andy of 360 Tactical VR showing how to set up admittely Manfotto pana heads.
