If its not too late, Argos are doing the canon sx510 bridge camera for half price at £140. Not sure how good they are but might be worth a look as another alternative.

Depends how budget you want to go, I made one from an old lens that no longer functioned, and a rubber hood (of the screw on filter variety). I Cut the top element out of the broken lens, leaving some of the surrounding plastic lens tube then flipped it around and inserted it into the rubber...

Have you thought about hiring a lens for the day? I did this with the sigma 35mm 1.4 its a great lens for inside church/castle for weddings. I used it on my 5d mk1 with great results, ISO isnt as great on the mki as the mkii so helped me out keeping the ISO down. I also had the older 50mm 1.4...
