Magic lantern for the 550d offers focus peaking, in focus areas will blink red. I believe it's in development for the 60d too. If you are after weights for a shoulder stabilizer then check out a homeware type place for kitchen scales type weights, or failing that get some lead. This link...

I bought a Nikon 50mm f1.8 with a decent focus ring and then a 5 quid nikon - eos adapter. obviously only works with manual focus but its ideal for video.

You need to shoot at 1280x720 50p and then conform the footage to 25p, this will give you smooth slow motion. Do you have editing software?

I would shoot in 1080 25p, edit and export and that will be your master copy. Then for your online version you can use mpeg streamclip to create a 720p mp4 file using the h264 codec. These are the Vimeo recommended compression settings http://vimeo.com/help/compression
