Seems purple to me as well, colour cast from the filter, have a play with the white balance.

As above, it needs to be crease free, taught and pull your subject a bit further forward to avoid problem shadows on the bg. The background needs to be evenly lit to enable any software not to have a hissy fit and the last thing - i've found that paper is better than fabric for chromakey stuff.

I suppose it depends on how far away the original image is to what you want it to be. Some shots will take me a few minutes, others i can spend hours on, for example if the model wants retouching. Other times that i have spent hours on a photo is when taking long exposure panoramas - the sea...
