    Profoto A1

Have you tried the Canon controller on your Olympus camera? I mean, it won't do TTL or HSS, but it will probably still trigger it (and manual power control is purely a function of the controller --> flash. The camera is not involved, so this should also work). This all works with Godox...

broncolor's new weather generators not proving that popular :P

This is a common problem. I realised halfway through a conversation with a lighting manufacturer that I wasn't talking to the manufacturer, but just an almost self-appointed rep. I've since looked at his social media accounts and it's apparent he's just a bit of a general grifter - lots of...

broncolor's new weather generators not proving that popular :P

It is hard to see the point of a trade show for many suppliers - and it wasn't that busy yesterday. The stands are also much less lavish than they used to be - I remember some of the elaborate Nikon/Canon stands with two floors, walkways and internal "rooms". Nothing like that now. The...

    Anyone used E-infinity ?

E-infinity are very good. My last couple of cameras have come from them. They do provide an insurance based warranty although I’ve never had cause to test it. They send it out pictures of the items they are sending to you alongside pictures of any documents. Difference in price on the last...

    Quad triggering?

I have never heard this term tbh. Elinchrom had a portable pack-and-head style light called a Quadra for a while. I once hooked one Yongnuo 422 transceiver up to 4 Nikon SB900 speedlights to make a high-speed softbox for dance photography (this was back in the days before big IGBT-controlled...

    Which system

I agree. I have 5 of these (and one lightweight and one low) and they are without doubt the best stands I've ever used. There's no collar (this is the bit that breaks when people over-tighten them) and they go from fully loose to fully tight in a quarter of a turn.

(and if you do have a date, then you can watch the...

Lighting indoor events, direct flash - technical improvements?

They are Lencarta SF600's which are based on the original QT600 as far as I know. I think Lencarta modified them to create a better compromise between flash duration and colour consistency across the power range (so somewhat ironically, they are a bit slower than the QT's) They have a 600Watt...

    Environmental Portraits - Portable lighting

AD200's are an excellent choice Steve. If I could only have one type of light it would be those. The Fresnel (speedlight type) head is very efficient and can produce very useful light outside even on brighter days. In really bright sun, you may want to double up. Don't bother with that...

Godox AD600 wit Sony Camera Not Firing at Times

If you don't need TTL or HSS, you could try a non-Sony version of the X-Pro (or other Godox) controller. A Nikon or Canon spec Godox controller will still trigger the lights and you'll be able to turn the power up and down from it. Attendees use my Nikon X-Pros on Canon, Sony, Fuji et al on...

    Westcott 43" (?) umbrellas

I think Westcott measure their brollies around the curve the "arc" of the circumference as they put it: https://www.fjwestcott.com/en-gb/products/7-foot-silver-umbrella But, as you say Phil - still a massive umbrella :)

godox firmware - is it possible to update flash units/controller on mac or just windows?

Just a couple of thoughts: if your controller and flash are next to each other, you might try turning transmit power down on the controller this is the "DIST" setting in the menu - set it to 0-30m and try triggering the flash heads. Also make sure you don't have any of that ID malarkey set on...

Advice re photography in a hall lit by fluorescent tube lights UK

It is what it is tbh Clint, and Wayne isn't saying anything different - just suggesting you can preview the white balance by changing it on the camera. The light sources still have to match for that to work though. Which part of what I said are you struggling with? If you use flash to...
