Rugby - Scotland v Japan Ladies

Great set, nice colours. Looks like mini Murrayfield has good floodlights, not like the candle power I'm used to.

Chicksands bike park - a real struggle

Another nice set Chris. No 1 looks to close for comfort.

    Chicksands bike park

Normally you will find me at Wessex League football, where the 1DX with a 70-200mm & a 1D MKIV with a 300mm gets me good results. My son likes to jump his MTB, so next time he goes to Chicksands I may venture out there, as I believe the car park is close to the site. That way i can ride and...

Fantastic concept, loving these. Keep them coming.

    Chicksands bike park

Nice set there Chris. Love the sense of speed in the first one. I have the original 1DX, a mighty beast. Haven't used it yet for Bike Parks yet, nearest to me is Windhill & the car park is miles away. So I tend to use my Sony 6400.

    Funky MTB angles

Not sure which is harder, trying to learn dirt jumps at 54 or capturing them on camera (as good as you have). I know which is less terrifying.

    Good to be back

Waiting to see if my local weekly needs me again this season, to cover our 4 local sides in the Wessex League. Hope things pick up for you guys who rely on photography to put food on the table.

    Canon 300mm 2.8 L Mk I or Sigma 120-300mm 2.8 Sport?

Hi Jordan, Yes it is the original 300mm.

    Canon 300mm 2.8 L Mk I or Sigma 120-300mm 2.8 Sport?

I use the Canon 300mm 2.8 on a 1d MkIV giving good results, built like a tank. Like Kipax said if you are going to be using a two camera set up then the 300mm is the way to go IMHO.

Older Full Frame Expanded ISO vs Newer Crop Native ISO for Floodlit Sports

Solid advise from Kipax, I try to slightly over expose under floodlight too. Also, if using LR sharpening tool make sure you use the masking slider as well.

level the background out or not?

Same here, only worry about the verticals.

ai servo release priority sports shooters

@KIPAX: Shot some floodlight football on Saturday and some indoor futsal on Sunday (ISO 12800). Frame rate is much better, doesn't feel like the camera is hesitating. Still have the few OOF, but that is down to me and not the camera.

I was wondering why under floodlights my frame rate was dropping. I was set at equal priority for both 1st & 2nd. Will give your settings a go Kipax and see how I get on.

Beginner School Rugby + Hockey tips?

Something like a fishing stool would do. I normally sit on my Peli case or if its dry I sit/kneel on the ground.
