I've used a Kenko 2x TeleConverter with the Tamron 18-270 and can confirm that it's manual focus only unless at the very wide end. Even then it's a little slow to focus. AF via LiveView will probably work fine, but that's probably not going to be acceptable depending on what you're doing...

I keep meaning to build something similar with an Arduino I have knocking about. Not sure how bad the latency will be with the Arduino, but hopefully it should be short enough to catch most things (birds, bats etc). Be curious how your project is going :)

Just adding to this thread - I'm also using the non-OEM "decoded" batteries and haven't had any problems with them. I've used eBay for batteries in the past but despite being a little cheaper, you have to be careful which seller you choose. I purchased mine from 7dayshop.com...

That's a poor example, the OP clearly cares about the quality of his cake, hence he's asking for guidance. By the sound of it, the requester of the cake is perfectly happy with the burnt cake they got too, so really no need for anyone to have an attitude ;)
