Which bit of kit next !? (location shooting)

Thanks for that, yes the 35mm is a LOT cheaper .... so continues the only dilemma of 2 pieces of half-decent kit, or 1 piece of rock gear ! The Tokina is bemusing me though: A 2nd hand Canon 10-22 isn't that much different in price form a new Tokina 11-6 (from searches so far) .. so I guess I...

Steve, Love some of your flickr images. Afraid I'm only starting out and limited experience with filters but can share what I've experienced so far. I got the Hitech Grad NDs and took these : http://www.blipfolio.com/simonB/weather#m6-sunset--1...

Which bit of kit next !? (location shooting)

Hello all, I've arrived at that probably familar stage where I have too many wishes on my wish list and need to prioritise them. Obviously the reason why I'm here, is that I'm lost as to which would benefit my images the best, so hoping for some experienced advice/comment. Background: K...

    Tripods: Compact vs Stability

'Compact' firslty because I trek and cycle. Ultimately, yes I could get away with a little more, but let's say an outside limit of 55cm (legs & ballhead) ... if i had no other choice i.e. I'd rather take a solid tripod out sometimes and get top images, than take a flimsy out all of the time...

    Tripods: Compact vs Stability

I know, an age old question, but each thread seems to have a slightly different angle or unique requirement ... so here's mine ! I also know this is likley to be an impossible wish list for a budet of £100-£200. Hence I'll list requirements in order of priority .... [1] Rock stable enough...

    Hyperfocal ... putting into practice.

When I was a kid (ahem ..some time ago), my Dad had an SLR, and upon the lenses I remember seeing little coloured markings, lines and cool curves drawn on them. 30 years later, I find out what they are for ! Unfortunately, you don't get pretty little lines drawn on your lenses these days, or...

Long Trips : Netbook for the Camera Bag ?

It's coming up to holiday time and I'm planning a 2 week camping trip. My main problem is going to be memory. I've got 12Gb for my 400D, which did me easily for a few days away recently, but 2 weeks is something else. Also I might try switching to RAW which adds another diemension. The...
