The photos were taken in Regent's Park (London) and there wasn't much in the way of shelter. I really didn't plan anything about these shots, they were taken entirely on the spur of the moment. I guess in future I will think a LOT more about lighting and composition...

I see what you mean about 1 and 3. They were shot in the middle of the day and the light was pretty harsh. Maybe a filter would have been appropriate here?

Delete anything that isn't "great". Even if you have a hundred "quite good" photos that you might want to do something with, forget it. Get rid of them.

In Camera Raw, I adjusted the colour temperature to 3300K and added a +8 tint.
I upped the contrast to +40 and reduced highlights to -70.
