    Photographer request

Hi chaps, Might be the wrong place for this - feel free to move if so. I've been asked by a friend of mine to take some photos of himself, wife and new baby so that he can some photos for Christmas gifts. Being primarily a motorsport photographer, I don't have the setup to do this and so...

Anyone ventured into the dangerous world of weddings??

Forward planning is key. I'm shooting a wedding in June for a good friend - I did some candids at her brother's civil ceremony, she liked what I'd done and asked me to do her wedding. I'm not charging her for it, but I'm still taking an approach as if she were someone I did not know; meeting...

    Flash exposure

Thanks Hoppy - I'm talking about with an SB600 with iTTL. Chances are that I've deleted the photos in question during a quick chimping session but if I do have one (or I get another) I'll post it up. I was using spot metering at the time, which as you've suggested may well be the cause.

    Flash exposure

I'm letting the flash recharge - and in any case the fact that the brighter shot can follow a normal one doesn't follow... ISO is usually at 200 when using the flash, and thinking about it I've only noticed this happening when using Programmed Auto.

    Flash exposure

I feel a little shameful asking this simple a question, but I couldn't find the answer via search! When taking flash photos, I sometimes find that they are overexposed. Indoors I usually have to manually tune down the flash to avoid it being quite so harsh, however the occasional photo will...

    Plastering course

Had no idea you were a builder Spike - you never gave it away on the R6M! Saying that though I hardly post there anymore these days... :$

    Auto focus question...

That's intriguing, I might have to give it a go on the non-VR lenses and see what the results are.

    Auto focus question...

Interesting - normally I can never be bothered to move the focus point unless I know I'm going to need it in a particular position for a series of shots. What sort of increase are you talking about... 50%? More?

    iPad

Whilst I can see the market that apple is aiming at, I really don't know if one exists. The iPhone wins for me because it has the features available in a small form factor - one that fits in my pocket. The iPad doesn't, it's the size of a small netbook, meaning that I would be unwilling to take...

On that note, isn't there an iPhone app that does the same?

    Plastering course

My dad renovated a house last year, and did the plastering himself. I was asking him about it when I was considering getting a couple of rooms skimmed and his response was along the lines of that it's not difficult, just a little tricky when you start out and can require a lot of trial and...
