I have a lot of old family pictures that I’d like to digitise and I’m wondering what the best process would be before I undertake the mammoth task.
Most of the pictures are fine but a fair number will need retouching (yellowing etc.) so the scans should be good enough to be edited and then...
I got the Kindle editions of all of Kelby's 4 main books and Understanding Exposure (to read on the iPad). There was a great degree of overlap but they were both very good. Kelby's stuff felt like it lent itself better to picking and choosing what was relevant to you, whilst UE seemed a great...
Good to know. Will see how the near 5 month old reacts later today if I can. I'm sure his reaction will be a bit worse though given he is a bit more aware.
I think, from what little experimenting I've done, you are better off trying to take pictures of a newborn with someone else to help out. Trying to get them to smile from behind a camera is a nightmare.
Thanks for the advice, guys.

I'm yet to check out the new Flickr but I will reserve my judgment until I do.
My wife and I have a newborn baby (3 months old the other day) and he was one of the primary reasons for getting my 650D. He's still at the stage where he does smile but it can be fairly infrequent. He is obviously indoors a lot too so lighting isn't the best. Can anyone recommend any tips on...
I just realised the point actually. I only imagined taking landscape shots at night which is why I couldn't fathom why shutter speed mattered but if it's a moving object, obviously it does.
I'm getting well ahead of myself but I've been reading up on some lenses I may like to get in the future. Some were bemoaning the performance of the Canon 70-200 f/4 at night in comparison to the f/2.8. Granted IQ probably differs between the lenses but, provided you stabilise properly and have...
Might as well post an intro thread I guess.
Just grabbed a 650D a few weeks back. Also picked up a 50mm f/1.8 :). Looking at taking good pictures of the newborn/portraits and general street shooting as well. Been reading up quite a bit so far as I'm one of those people who researches loads...
