I've used both to good effect with Virgin - as per the post above the Virgin router/hub is utter rubbish. Mine had poor signal, dropped the connections and oddly in router mode could never muster more than 20mb download on a 100mb connection - but in modem mode gets a solid 105mb.....go fgure...
I've bought cheap keys for Office before on ebay - same sort of deal Office365 for £10.
I took the punt, stuck it into the MS website to download the software from - no issues at all.
I even ended up using the chat feature to talk to an MS rep about the install process (MS in their wisdom have...
Having lived in and around London most of my life, main advice is 'common sense applies'.
I've carried a DSLR and a bag of kit without drama or fear of drama probably hundreds of times - join the tourists all doing the same in the touristy areas and your generally fine.
Would I walk around...
I can second WordPress.
It's pretty straight forward to get going with a template. You can the customise them as you see fit, depending on your css skills.
I'm on my second template, got bored and fancied a change - swapped over in a couple of nights work (few hours an evening)...
A fairly wide fast lens may do the trick.
Something like a 24mm prime from Canon, if your savvy and can wait you can probably pick one up on here without breaking the bank.
Wide enough for a landscape and fast enough to eeek out the stars.
If you want your own take on the website then there are lots of alternatives like Wordpress.
However Flickr and the like provide you a quick solution and a platform that is ready made of sharing.
Also consider 500px.
In about to get one....(Nest).
The reviews are really very good, the main reason for me is to be able to control the heating whilst away from home etc.
Plus it's handy to stick all the apps on a single tablet and be able to control the heating, lights and stream music etc all from 1...
Another good reason to find a local group to venture out with. Safety in numbers so to speak.
Depending on where your venturing, it's usually comments sense.
There are places i wouldn't bat an eyelid to wander around at night and there are places i feel semi conscious of carrying a camera...
Google is your friend......
Check out the Meet up site and app. I'm London based, so there are few different meet ups on the go for photography. Some are literally just meet ups and others offer a level of help/basic tuition.
If your not London hit close to a city somewhere, I'm sure a meet up...
Your welcome.
I'd you can, shoot in raw. Its a bit more forgiving in the sense that you have the 'raw' sensor data, so you have a bit more power in post to pull up shadows, drop highlights etc.
JPEG will give you an instant image which usually has some great spied to it, so usually more...
Agreed - invest in the glass vs camera bodies.
If the body is doing the job you need it to do, then keep using it. If its limited in features, ISO, frame rate etc, then consider changing.
Keep an eye on the used section, the odd bargain comes up! Prime lenses will give you the biggest...
Here goes - I'm ignoring the motion blur etc.
1) Good potential here - consider coming up a touch with the exposure or perhaps "dodging" some of the rock fall area. They are pretty much in shadow which I think is a shame. It lacks a little "omph" - so I would be tempted to bring some of the...
Not much more to add further to the advice already given - other than if your interests are dawn/dusk type shots a small lightweight tripod would be a good tool to have with you.
If weight/size/baggage is an issue whilst travelling, then one of the larger Gorilla pods could work well for those...
