    Post you Kodachrome photos

Think these were all taken in 1992/93 with a Nikon F401. Top one is Tours cathedral, others all in and around Siena. Kodachrome 64.

    Nikkormat FT3 anyone using one?

Nikkormat meters are prone to twitchiness, but otherwise they are arguably just as solid and reliable (and nearly as heavy) as the F and F2 they were sold alongside. Probably the best bargain these days in Nikon mechanical bodies.

    Another camera shop closes... WestEndCameras

Shame. Used to work in Maple House just next to them (20 years ago now ) and often had a wander in at lunchtime. I bought my Olympus mju-ii brand new from them in about 1998. It's still going strong. It is a shame but understandable how tough the high street business must be these days.

    Fillum in Newcastle?

I believe both do still sell film though I wouldn't vouch for its freshness in either case. If you're in the Byker area (which is well located for a number of aforementioned watering holes) then pop in to Digitalab. They do still sell film I believe and also do their own dev/printing too. Nice...

    The best cheap 90's 00's 35mm SLRs?

The F80 is indeed a lot of camera for the money, arguably the best value of them all. It's also very easy to switch to for anyone raised on a dSLR, or in possession of modern Nikon lenses. It even has VR functionality with suitable lenses so is effectively able to maximise the benefit of any...

    This makes me very happy

Kodachrome was magical, but yes, unlikely to come back. It had a great and unique look, and having scanned lots of old slides from different sources and processes, the Kodachrome ones seem much more durable than most others too, in terms of retaining their colours etc. Most of my childhood was...

    Nikon FM3A with Nikkor 50mm f1.2 lens

I had both in my arsenal at one point and they are fantastic. However I was a tiny bit disappointed with the FM3A winder which didn't feel quite a silky smooth as the ones I'd experienced on FE/FE2, FM/FM2, Nikkormat, F2, F3 bodies. Perhaps it was just the example I had, but it was slightly...

What was your first 'proper' camera?

Nikkormat FTN + 50mm f1.4, Was my dad's, and he gave it to me about 25 ago when I was still a teenager. I have bought a ridiculous amount of cameras since and sold most of them, but the Nikkormat stays. It is hard as nails, is still all the camera I need (in 35mm anyway) and will undoubtedly...

Leica M2 lens choice on a budget

I have no experience with Leica or Hasselblad but I do know that most (or almost all) of the 'quality' we see in photographs is from good technique, not some magic that Leitz or Zeiss have that Nikon, Canon, Minolta or others do not. I've had some superb optics at my disposal over the years...

    Nikon F6

Apologies in advance if I am generating unnecessary temptation folks, but I notice Ffordes have an F6 in their sale section for £499. It looks like it has a few marks on the body but they're probably trivial, and I'm sure this one was previously £599 or maybe more when I looked last time...

    Nikon F6

I covet one also, but they are too damn expensive!

    Nikon F4

A while back I did a list of weights of cameras (mainly Nikons) to help decide which to 'rationalise' (or potentially buy to replace what I had...I didn't own all of these though had had some previously). Not sure this is accurate (I think it includes batteries where relevant but can't say for...

not too happy with ag Photo Labs

I've always had good experiences with them too (mainly for processing, but also the odd film order).

Where do you guys buy your film from?

Just ordered a 5 pack of Acros in 120 from Calumet for £20. Not in stock (though apparently will be next week) and free delivery with JULY16DEL code. Price can't be bettered as far as I can see, if anyone's interested.

Which digital do you own (if any)?

Don't worry about that - digital cameras don't respond to love in the same way that film ones do. And of course, love is all you need.
