Think these were all taken in 1992/93 with a Nikon F401. Top one is Tours cathedral, others all in and around Siena. Kodachrome 64.

Nikkormat meters are prone to twitchiness, but otherwise they are arguably just as solid and reliable (and nearly as heavy) as the F and F2 they were sold alongside. Probably the best bargain these days in Nikon mechanical bodies.

Shame. Used to work in Maple House just next to them (20 years ago now :eek:) and often had a wander in at lunchtime. I bought my Olympus mju-ii brand new from them in about 1998. It's still going strong. It is a shame but understandable how tough the high street business must be these days.

I believe both do still sell film though I wouldn't vouch for its freshness in either case. If you're in the Byker area (which is well located for a number of aforementioned watering holes) then pop in to Digitalab. They do still sell film I believe and also do their own dev/printing too. Nice...

I have no experience with Leica or Hasselblad but I do know that most (or almost all) of the 'quality' we see in photographs is from good technique, not some magic that Leitz or Zeiss have that Nikon, Canon, Minolta or others do not. I've had some superb optics at my disposal over the years...

Don't worry about that - digital cameras don't respond to love in the same way that film ones do. And of course, love is all you need. :love:
