    Maybe look towards the Tamron 70 - 300 mm it has vc, incredibly sharp lens and its cheaper than the nikon alternative and i would say better :) i use the tamron on a 3200, and it is an awesome set up.

    Thanks for your tips and advice :) and i took it in raw mode, i then processed in lightroom, converted to black and white and played with the white, black, highlight and shadow sliders :)

    Graham, how does it work? is it quick focusing, and whats the zoom range like? are there any bad points to the lens?
