Ignore me if you know this already but you don't have to use the switch handheld, the dock plugs into your tv and you can play multiplayer games at home. There are loads of great Nintendo games that kids that age will love. But on the down side switch is quite expensive.

Agree with this. EF lenses won't become obsolete over night. If Canon release a version of a lens on the new mount that's an obvious upgrade then the old EF version will drop in value but surely that's no different to what happens if they release a version ii on EF.
