Loved the shop, they had a model island in the store with loads of focal points to play with, so you could get a great idea of how the lenses performed, never seen anything like it in the UK!

The Amazing Sony A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I went into the Sony store in the Emporium shopping centre in Bangkok today and they let me loose with the GM70-200 F/2.8 and the GM 100-400 to play with. Much love for both lenses, now, where to find £2k for each one :D Also had a play with the A9, now i feel like my A6500 is inadequate lol :(

Well i took about 100 long exposure photos last night, settings were all ISO100, F/4 to F/8 ish and between 20 and 30 seconds, the lightning was frequent, as in probably 30 strikes per minute, and i got one exposure with a little bit of lightning, hmmm. I'm sure i'll have plenty of time to...

All wrong, currently in the middle of an electrical storm but i don't seem to be catching any lightning, 30s/F/4 ISO 100 :S. Unless the Sony monitor just isn't catching it. Oh, and i'm in Bangkok :D

The Amazing Sony A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Well, my A6500 / 18-105 kit i bought last month for £1720 has ended up costing me just over £1k. First, i claimed the cashback from Sony (£190), then as i'm moving to NZ i can claim the VAT back which works out at £226 from Jessops (i don't know how they work it out). Finally, the 3% top cash...

    The travel compromise - Recommendations?

Trade the Canon 70D in for a Sony A6300/6500, best of both worlds then, APSC sensor for good quality, then 18-105 lens for nice zoom. Not sure about length of longer zooms though.

Mirrorless suggestions - moving on from EOS M

I suggest you have a look at the Sony system too, you said that video would be something you're interrested in too, sony is great for video, the A6300 has 4k video recording, and i think it also can do 1080p at 120fps for slow motion. I went for the A6500 for the IBIS, and it's the first time...
