Yes
I have the monitor that came with my PC a few years ago. It's okay I guess. It serves me okay at least. It was calibrated at one point!! But I'd like to get a new one.

Some info......

I'm on Windows 7.
I think I'd like a 24" inch screen [because of space]
I'd like a HDMi socket.
I'd also like to use it for watching TV/iPlayer/Firestick - [PC is in the bedroom where's there's no TV]
It's only used otherwise for photo editing, web browsing, kids do homework, etc

I'm not at all clued up on types of screens & resolution numbers etc etc which is where I need some recommendations.

I know you're going to ask a budget which is understandable, and although I don't have an exact figure set in stone, I don't mind spending a couple of hundred quid.

I also don't know how I feel about buying a used monitor...?? I think I'd prefer to buy new.

Thanks both. That's an in depth review!! I'll take a proper look when on the PC

So do I need to check if leads/connections are compatible? And will it just plug in and work at the correct resolution - I presume I'll have to check what resolutions my PC will run at?

Yes, you will need to check the connectors on your PC/graphics card. When i ran it on a PC i had to make a custom resolution as it wouldn't run it at 2560x1440p 60hz for some reason so went with 55hz and it was fine. No visible difference in speed so it was all ok. Now running it on a MAC and it works exactly as it should. If your computer won't run it then consider one of the Dell Ultrasharps.

2k is awesome mate, definitely worth the extra cash over 1080p imo.

Good luck!

These look like good recommendations to me. I have an older Dell Ultrasharp (2209WA) and I've been very happy with it. Was about your budget back in 2010, but of course things have moved on since then.

I run mine at 80hz (effectively an overclocked monitor) more so for the odd spot of gaming but 60hz is fine for photo editing.

Didn't realise you could do that tbh.
Not many people do even those mad keen in overclocking everything else.

Simply set a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel and choose what hz you'd like! I've gone up to 80 with no problems. Probably wouldn't push it any further.
