Nikon D750 & D780

I got fed up seeing bird images over at the d500 thread and now I am here made no difference apart from a different sort of bird [emoji23]

Nice Tim. I was hoping to get out in the morning light but the missus took an age to get ready, so it was a bit harsh by the time we took the little one out. Got one that looks ok.

What don't you like about your colour processing?

Just feel it lacks something, think I'm going to try and add more flash for the portraits now Amelia stands still (sometimes)

I suppose depends on the overall look you're after. It looks relatively muted to me which is so popular right now. I think I'm over that myself, can't get it always looking right, suppose I keep trying to mimic the contrast and colour of RH but yet to crack it. Settled on a portra based one for now with a little more contrast.

Biggest problem I find is a consistent look across different light. I do like the muted, low contrast, faded black look but mostly when you have great light to work with, I can't seem to get it looking right in bad light. Adding a bit of flash certainly adds some crispness especially indoors IMO.

I'm thinking it's time to drag out the flash outside and start there, I think I just need to keep shooting and editing in colour, it's too easy to revert to b and w

I need to plan some projects. Anyone got anything interesting they are planning this year?

Should do some street photography plus there's a couple of landscapes I keep meaning to do..

Out of boredom (and the house being extended) I joined the 52 project on here, and macro Mondays flickr group. Other than that, just waiting for the weather to pick up a bit.

Ha, In 2 weeks im off to the Zoo, in May a long W/E and got the HOG (Harley Owners Group) (No I dont own one) :( Its in Grimaud and St Tropez Love going to this event, so much to see and the people are fab and colourful.
End of June another holiday, going to North Italy and Switzerland (another HOG W/E) and to see the mountains of Switzerland Plus a bit of Macro photography I guess :)
In-between all that, other days out into the Mercantour National Park (more mountains) with a drive on the highest mountain road in Europe (apparently)
So Landscape and Pano shots planned for all trips plus people event shots.

Thanks.

Currently have

24-85 kit lens always loved this lens
50mm 1.8
70-200 2.8 vr2

Of course all nikkor.

Thinking getting the 200-500 next

There seems to be a few 200-500`s up for sale at the moment. How are you finding the 50mm ?

I know it come up the wrong time don't have the funds for it yet [emoji30]. I like 50mm always have. Good for it money. Ok it not a ART but you get what you pay for. TBH to get the best out of the art you need the dock imho

Sods law mate ,..
I`ve always had a love/hate thing with the 50mm focal length (been through three of `em). I prefer 35mm now and only moved from the Nikon f2 to the Art, so must be a thing ;)

A 35mm prime be nice one day too I reckon..

Went for a brief walk in the harsh mid day sun yesterday..

2nd & 3rd are v good. That baby has teeth!

Thanks - and only just! There's a 3rd shot of her kissing mum too to complete [emoji3]

Does show the DR of the 750! Wasn't that long ago where you couldn't pull that detail.

So, questions. Just ordered a D750 from Panamoz with the 24-120.

Debate is do I sell the 24-120 and continue with my 24-70 f2.8, or the other way round. Like the fact of having something a little longer and lighter but the quality of the 24-70 may swing it. Opinions.... If I'm selling the 24-120 I'd like to sell it unused.

Also what battery packs are you using and what do you think to them?

Thanks

The 24-120 is a nice lens. I currently have the 24-120 and 24-70, I'm thinking of selling the 24-120 but haven't been able to part with it as second hand prices are just daft. Seems they go for around £360-400 due to the huge number that have been sold as kits with D750's reducing their sell on value. MPB will probably pay around £375 as new but don't take grey kit.

Battery packs-I like them. I have the Nikon one that I bought on here. I have a Meike on a D7200, it's ok but not as good as the Nikon one, and seems to have a weird issue where when it's moved slightly it turns on the green led on the rear of the camera even when the camera is off. It comes down to price, if you can find a second hand Nikon one they are worth the extra but not at full price.

MPB took my D750 last year, filled their form in and put down it was from Panamoz. Maybe it depends on their stock levels whether they take grey or not?

It's strange because I've heard this a few times. They wouldn't take a 18-140 from me because it was a grey lens from panamoz (they asked if it was grey or not, and said they only take UK stock). At the time they didn't have any other 18-140 lens so it shouldn't have been due to stock levels. Sounds like it may depend on who you deal with from MPB.

I think it only one bloke who deal with it at MPB?? Graig

Should do some street photography plus there's a couple of landscapes I keep meaning to do..

Well my other half got me on a photography day in the Peak District doing waterfall stuff on the Longshaw Estate. That isn't till June but I decided to buy into some "square" ND filters, so with that in mind I want to plan in a bit more time to practice and do some landscapes too.

Padley Gorge is nice Chris, you'll have a nice time. You could make a full day of it and pull a sunrise in too.

Here my version of a Bird ha ha ha ha... Still bedroom bound with this damn flu... It a massive crop and quite please with it.. Reckon a 150-600 or a 200-500 or a X2 TC on my list next..
