Good set, #4 is the pick for me, enough DoF for the background buildings to be recognisable but the focus on the broken demolition sign provides a nice bit of story telling

Thanks Chris. When I went to take the photos I came across the broken piece of sign on the floor and then looked around for the rest. I'd really like to get closer, even inside, but this area is off limits to MOTP, so it's a case of finding a place or 3 where one can either shoot over or through the fence panels.

My faves are jointly first and third: first for the mixed textures and the way that the buildings stand out against the sky, third for the broken 'END' sign in the foreground.

Great story telling as a set, No1 leaps out to me as a dark, sombre building, with a history that needs to be told.

Thanks Paul. I'm wondering if there's some way I can get a bit closer - the guys doing the building work have become a little more relaxed about security recently, and there might be a gap in the fence at some stage.

The low, harsh light renders very well in B&W!

Yes it does, though I do like the colour versions too - they give a less menacing, more decayed feel.

True.
I see a picture as a story telling document. The decay
is visible in mono still… I don't think the colours are
an asset in the story telling… just me.

Thanks - is it because they're warm and sunny looking, rather than cold & bleak maybe?

Very nice Toni while I like the colour shots I prefer the mono rendering
