The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I have just ordered the Sony battery grip for my A7II, thought I would take advantage of the £30 cash back offer at the moment, I was watching a Youtube video by John Sison
and in it he states that the grip will not work with 3rd party batteries, is this true? seems strange when the camera itself works fine with the 3rd party batteries I have.

I looked at getting the Meike grip. I can't justify Sony prices for a grip

I tried selling my Meike grip here. I didn't get much interest at the time... if you are interested we could sort out something ;-)

I have had two 3rd party grips in the past (neither of them Meike ) and they seemed very flimsy to me, I agree that OEM grips seem overpriced but with the £30 cash back I thought it would be worth it for the peace of mind.

I used to own the OEM grip for the original A7 and I have meike grip for A7RII. While the meiki isn't as good as the OEM version it certainly isn'y flimsy and OEM version isn't 5 times as good as meiki (may be 1.25-1.5x max :D ).

Some nice images there...... especially with adapted lenses, imagine if you had a G Master ;)
I can get my hands on a FE 100-400mm G Master next week if I wanted it but going to stick with the 70-200mm G Master even though there is no ETA date for it yet! :(
