Still messing with a lot of my shots from Decembers visit to Glencoe with @Paul Cronin.

Here's what I have gone through so far :)

6 shot pano of a very frozen Lochan. The frozen surface had turned a strange milky blue/white colour which certainly added to the scene.

From the top (well half way) of Beinn a'Chrulaiste

And on to the most photographed mountain in Scotland (probably)

Darn cool takes, Richie. love them all! (y)(y)(y)

A great set of images Richie, and you must be well pleased with them. I'm possibly with you on the last one being favourite, but each has its own good points.

Brilliant work

Cheers all. Was certainly an interesting trip. Started with 6" of snow and -7° and by the time I left after 3 days, the snow had gone and it was +10°

Love them all but that last one, offft, that's specail!!

3,4,6 and 7 are quality images Rich lovely work. I think no.2 the dark patch of sky extreme top right pulls the eye a bit much - I can well believe it was that dark but just pulls me away enough to spoil it a bit. No.1 is nice as well but not as good as the others for me. Not as keen on the kilchurn ones although the last one is a bit different from there which makes a nice change.

1,3 and the last for me

I feel the 4th shot the foreground dominates and cuts off a reflection which to me would be more appealing than the shelf of ice.
Cheers Steve. I understand your love and preference to have the reflections but I’m more of a foreground interest kind of guy :)

These are excellent.
Thanks very much :)

Cheers Stuart, really appreciate the constructive crit (y). Certainly helps me see what I hadn’t considered before.
Yeah the Kilchurn ones were a case of, nice conditions but the same old. I’ve been there, done it, and probably won’t return now.

Excellent work.
Many thanks :)

Kilchurn ones are different, I like them, particularly the last one. It's one of my favourite spots but I'm still exploring it. Don't write it off yet, it offers so much in different conditions.

Some of the best work in this thread that I've seen on these forums and that's saying a lot. Superb!

Of the 1st Kilchurn shots the 1st is the best but I am not a foreground person at all - that composition is for me the one and the others a bit messy and less rewarding. I find that angle the best one as the shoreline cuts in and out over there and can make a perfectly level picture look squint. - the pylons have been well removed from the shot too.

I have to say though it's one I think works best in the summer - I really don't like bare brown trees so it's one I only shoot now May to October. Looking at these on the big screen the winners are definitely the Rannoch Moor ones. Gutted I didn't go back up as these reflections and skies are the stuff of dreams.

"Excellent" set of images Sir. liking all of these very much with #5 just edging it in preference for me.(y)

George.

Cheers Dale. Massively appreciated the kind comments. Spent so much time over the last 4-5 months trying to vary how I view scenes and capture them. Spent so many years only looking for the ‘big vistas’ with pretty coloured skies but starting to look now at the scenes within scenes and appreciating muted tones as well :)

Cheers Steve. As you have said, a bit of autumnal colour may set the background to Kilchurn off better so i may well return.

The conditions at Rannoch, certainly the Lochan shots, were only like that for one day. The day before, snow covered the Loch, the day after it had gone a bit mushy and didn’t appeal at all, not to mention it was grey and miserable too. That day though, the ice was just this beautiful pastel blue/white and picked up the reflections wonderfully. I have even had 5’ x 1’6” canvas done of the pano and I love it :)

Cheers George, really appreciate the kind comment :)

Excellent, I particularly like No. 1.

What slightly detracts for me is that the skies tend to be slightly too dark .
Cheers Jerry :)

I think in most instances here the skies were pretty foreboding as they built over the mountains. I do like to add some atmosphere to the sky so may have bought the contrast up a touch too :D

I would love to go to Scotland but am not sure about winter driving having rarely done it. How do you get around?

The main roads are usually well maintained so its not to much of a problem. The places in the images above are all within a short walk of the road side so no real effort involved

Cracking set Richie. Looking at a couple of those, I left a day early. Have to get back up there again for Nov or Dec...That third one is my favourite with everything just right for me. Like the processing on the slabs one, and came out really nice.

That's a great set of pictures from one visit, all of them.
No crit from me and would have been pleased to have taken any of them.
Great work picking out interesting and engaging foregrounds, the broken slabs of ice are superb.
Cheers Scott. Massively appreciate the comment, especially from a Glencoe aficionado such as yourself :). I was, as you said, extremely spoilt for 4 day photography :D
