Pic(s) you took today - an open thread

I had plans to visit three locations while out on mole-patrol. The weather forecast was showers followed by sunny spells. What I got was showers followed by torrential rain, sleet and hail with a temperature drop fro 11C to 2C in an hour o_O

All I managed was this just before the rain came...

Not another dam bird as my wife would say

Same perch as last week and the same bird as the year before and the year before that and the year before that and the same again for a number of years

A Reed Cormorant - taken at a local lake - Rondevlei, Wilderness, Western Cape - a fresh water cormorant found on lakes (very) near the coast

We fed the squirrels on the way home today. I only had a manual 35mm lens so I had to be quick and then do some 100% crops :D

The whole scene and then the crop.

We heard the squirrels calling to each other and they sounded a bit like ducks :D I don't think I've ever seen and heard this before.

I went to Sandsend, Whitby and Saltburn today and wherever I went the light was just so poor. Oh well.

Sandsend. If we could see it that's Whitby in the distance.

Whitby. Looking for colour and contrast.

Picnic at Saltburn.

I know this is not a gear thread but this lens (fully manual Pergear 35mm f1.4) is only £93 new :D

Been helping out with someone's research into first millenia churches around the region of France where we live. These however were taken for me...

I picked up one of my old film cameras A 1960's Cosmic 35 by the Russian LOMO company ( It was my Moms camera) and remembered how much i liked using manual film cameras using the Sunny 16 rule and thought to myself tomorrow I'm going to take my Sony A6000 out and use it in full manual. So the plan was look at the image by eye guesstimate the settings and then pick up the camera an take the shot using them. Most of them worked out really well but focusing was still a bit of a cheat as when focusing using the Sony Kit lens in manual the camera automatically zooms in , in the view finder so you can peak your focus. I've never used the manual focus before with the standard lens apart from once in Cornwall where I trashed all the photos of The Bedruthan Steps after accidentally turning off auto focus !!!! I will be using it in this way in the future as I really enjoyed it and not once did I get a miss focused image as I was in full control.

First Priority was to get my dogs out, I did a fair bit of practicing with the camera but mainly on boring subjects, This image reminded me I need to build something so I can get the bikes on the car, I used to cycle everywhere hardly ever using the car.

After the dog walk I decided to go the Kinlet church , all the following are from there.

More to follow later.

On the way back from a dog walk on Titterstone Clee I came across the Motocross at Highley, Unfortunately I only had my Kodak bridge camera with me. This camera has a big delay on shooting , the auto focus is very slow it takes ages to save the photo and as it has no eye finder it was just difficult to use.I would have been better off zone focusing with my Sony using my old M42 manual film lenses. Not the best they could be but here you go. An Electric motocross bike was killing the competition !

Feel sorry for the mother that has to do the laundry afterwards.

That's a nice set, and it just shows what you can do with a budget camera. I particularly like the last one
