Email received tonight with this info.

Kodak Chemistry is due to return soon!

Customers will be aware that, for many months, the very popular range of Kodak chemistry has been unavailable - favourites like XTOL, HC110, D76 etc. disappeared when the Tetenal factory in Germany ceased operations (Tetenal were making the range for Kodak)

We expect a lot of demand when stock arrives - if you navigate to the product pages on our site, you can enter your email address to receive notification the moment stock is available.

The following products are expected in the next 2-3 weeks:

Thank you for the heads up, hopefully I'll be getting an email when Xtol is back.

Ilford developers seem out of stock everywhere too. My preferred ID11 is quoted as expected June via Morco. I've gone with Fotospeed FD10 instead which will be new to me. Guess I'll find out whether I like it after I dev my 10+ rolls of 120, 35mm and Minox!

Edit: seems to be Ilford powder developers that are unavailable.

I don't know how yo do it, save up films to be developed later, I need to see what is on there as soon as possible. That said when using digital I never chimp so I guess I am at odds with what other people like to do.
I am really looking forward to using the Xtol again, according to Flickr it has been about ten years since I last used it.

Not through choice @zx9 . We had the house and garage rewired just before Christmas and most of the garage contents are still in my shed based darkroom making it inaccessible for loading spirals - I do the actual deving in the house. We are having a new central heating system and radiators installed Monday so yet more delays for film processing...

ID11 seems to be available from Ilford. I, however, mix my own from the raw chemicals. I have plenty on the shelf although I am wondering where to obtain fresh supplies now that Silverprint is no more.

Hmm... I bought a bottle of Rodinal from Nik & Trick a couple of weeks ago so I don't need to replace my HC-110 just yet but as it's in stock...

ID11 and D76 are near as nothing the same formula depending on what source you check. Most show the same mix of chemicals, one or two show ID11 as having more borax and some sodium tripolypyosphate. In practical use I dont think you could tell the difference. I never could.

Developers have a few standard elements that more or less have to be there - the developing agent to do the job, a restrainer to prevent it being overactive, etc. Above and beyond that, because different people will use them with different water - hard, soft etc., makers add other ingredients to counter these differences. My understanding is that D76 and ID11 are identical as far as the actual developing agents go, but the additives to counteract water differences vary slightly depending on the Ilford and Kodak chemists (and possibly the water conditions where they formulated the extras.

I've checked the Ilford website. When you click add to basket it either shows out of stock or "not available in quantities selected" and being I was only trying to buy one both 1 & 5l ID-11 are out of stock.

At some point I'd be very keen to learn how to mix my own from the raw chemicals.

Get Anchell and Troop's Film developing cookbook for formulae and theory. Well worth reading cover to cover, and very interesting.

It's trickier to bake a sponge cake than make up a developer if you have the ingredients and equipment to hand (add scales for making developers if your kitchen ones lack the sensitivity needed). I speak as a cake maker with a chemistry degree.

Firstcall Photographic near Taunton have a supply of chemicals but I have not listed them all.

Update You could also try Nick and Trick in Folkestone

AG Have had the full range of Kodak Chemicals in since the 9th April. There does not seem to be any serious increase in price either, which can only be a good thing. (D76 1 litre £10). Still no news on Ilford though although June/July is a possibility. Can you hold your breath that long or longer?
