The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I like to have raw on one card and Joeg on the other, so that when I plug the card into Lightroom I only get the raws. I also like having the jpegs for use with XApp on my phone, to pull an image to share quickly without going through Lightroom. It is a case of whatever works
There is a setting in LR Import Preferences which allows you to treat JPGs as separate files, turn it on it imports both RAW and JPG, turn it off and it only imports the RAWs

I tried the X-T5 out recently and found the grip much comfier than I was expecting, and much better than the X-T1 I had. I don't know if the grip's changed or I've changed but it took me by surprise. I can imagine with the bigger lenses it's not going to be substantial enough though.
I've got the Fuji hand grip on my T5. It makes it very easy and balanced to hold imho.

I got a Small Rig grip which makes all the difference

Paul & Craig have beaten me to it: I have the Smallrig grip on my X-T4 and it absolutely transforms the handling of the camera for me :)

Spent the day at Brands Hatch (Test Day for the Masters Championship tomorrow - back there again!!!) Got loads of images to sort out, but here is a taster, with a 'classic' Brands Hatch View, as the car crests the rise before Druids

Very nice, the Shadows are fantastic looking cars. The masters is one of my favourite events, shame it's not coming to Donington this year, I'm too lazy to travel to Brands ;) There's no Silverstone festival this year either :(

F1 GP Icons are at the new Silverstone Classic at end of July
I never looked at that as I had no idea what the BDRC classic was, however I already have plans that weekend  I have WSBK two weeks before, and the classic motorbikes the week after though so it's not all bad ;)

Nice set Alan! I thought about going down to Classics on the Beach, but I thought it might be stupidly busy, so I had lunch at Wagamama instead :)

Grand set, must ge back up to Sheffield...just up the track from Derby. (y)
Thanks. It unrecognisable these days, I wish I'd done some photography before they'd renovated the Park Hill flats and flattened the Castle Markets.

Sheffield always reminds me of this :ROFLMAO:. Would be great to see some ‘then and now’ photos

Absolute classic.

These flats in the background are the Park Hill Flats I mentioned above, they've had a massive refurb. They were proper run down and dodgy as hell before, very notorious, but they had character. They used them in This Is England 90

This was called the hole in the road, there were shops underneath, one of which was a proper cool clubbing shop. The hole in the road isn't there anymore, it's been filled in and it's a tram stop now.

This is the Park Hill flats now

There is still one block that hasn't been done yet, but it's all been fenced off.

When do you feel that a battery is passed its best ? I took about 30-40 shots last week and that used 2 bars, which implies that I’d be running out of juice after 100 shots or so…seems very low

Are there any recommended 3rd party batteries or best to stick with the NP126S for my XS10 ?

I’ve got a couple of K&F batteries for my X100VI, they work well to me.

I would say that is past its best. I have found that third party batteries get to that point quicker than the Fuji batteries, so I have been sticking to Fuji. And writing the purchase date on them with a sharpie.

Anyone know the settings to change in the XT5 to do this?

My Viltrox 75/1.2 has a AF-MF switch, but when in MF mode the lens is still doing AF on the XT5. Putting the lens on the XT1 the switch functions perfectly, so I am guessing there is a setting in the XT5 that disables MF in lenses?

I haven't written the purchase date on mine, but they are numbered so that I know I use them all in equal rotation.

I've only got Fuji batteries now, but I've had good experiences with Hahnel in the past, if anyone else is looking for recommendations...

Odd that they'd include a switch when Fuji have the switch on the body... Which one takes precedence? I'd imagine the body switch would overrule the lens.

Are you using back button focus? IIRC there is a setting for "Instant AF" or something like that, that lets you BBF while in MF. I think there is also a AF+MF setting that basically lets you use AF and adjust with MF.

If you enable peaking or any other MF assist, does it engage when you set the switch to MF?

I doubt mine will get much use, I've not run out of battery yet with the X100VI so never had to use the spares (other than testing they work).

They are generic lenses that are available for different mounts, so I image it is to have the minimum difference between versions for each mount. Removing a switch would mean that the tooling for the lens body would need to be redone.

I have an old Neewer charger back when I bought the XT1 so like a decade ago, granted that charges only 1 at a time. but I prefer the built in charging ones these days since I can charge it directly with just a cable. I always travel with a USB-C cable, or they are everywhere, but it's not easy to find a charger.

(But the body itself can charge the battery so ultimately it is not a dealbreaker)

That's how I've been charging (y)

I used to charge mine in the camera, I didn't have a charger at all - someone posted on here though about third-party batteries expanding when charged, which can lead to them getting stuck in the camera, or damaging it in extreme cases... I'd only just got my X-T4 at that point, so I played it safe and got Fuji batteries.

Patona do a 'Protect' series which are allegedly a quality casing that resists high temperatures, Amazon doing 2 for the X100 type for £34.
