LolI hate it when my brick photos are soft!
I noticed it with the shot of my garden so I tested it against the wall to make sure it wasn't some anomaly. I only do test shots like that if I see an issue in a 'normal' photo

I snoozed and losed. Well actually I didn't know it was there but yeah, £500 for an XT3 suddenly looks quite compelling compared to Xt2 prices. I'm actually pondering whether I just hand down my XT4 if the XT6 gets a wriggle on being released. I doubt it's going to net me much trading it in. She's a beginner and I actually started with the assumption that I'd pick up something like an X-T20 for her which might suit her more with full auto mode etc. That was until I discovered that they're going for more than £300 as well. It's absolutely crazy how much these older cameras are selling for. What's the reason behind it all?

They do look soft there. Maybe just see the 2.8 aspect as a bonus for when just centre sharpness is enough and then stop it down a little the rest of the time. It's faster than most kit lenses in the first place so I guess you could look at that pragmatically. Does it sharpen up at F/4?I've got a special sleeveless one for just an occasion

I've not checked f4, just f2.8 and f8 as they'd be what I'd use.
I'm still not sure I'm going to get a Fuji ILC yet. The main reason for looking is due to 2 bucket list hols next year but not wanting too much weight. The reason for not just taking the X100VI is that it only has one SD slot, and that they're bucket list holidays and I want to be able to get all possible shots, particularly wide shots when I'm going into buildings. I know the chance of an SD failure is very slim but again, as it's a bucket list stuff I don't want to take a chance.
I've weighed up a variety of options such as:-

I’ve been put off with the corner sharpness of the 16-50mm and ideally I’d like an aperture ring with markings. For the UWA I’d ideally like something more like a 16mm equivalent. I know 16 vs 18mm doesn’t sound a lot but in the UWA range it makes a big difference.

What about the 16-55 MK2. Or is that too heavy for travel? I'm using the MK1 in the US at the moment and find it fine weight wise, albeit a tad big
No aperture ring but the Sigma 10-18 and 18-50 meet the rest of your criteria nicely.

I’ve considered it, for travel I do find that a 16-35mm eq is more useful though so if I had the 10-24mm and 16-55mm the weight is going to be getting higher and I may as well just take my Sony gearWhat about the 16-55 MK2. Yeah another combo I’ve considered but neither is fully weather sealed which isn’t ideal.

Gives you time to get over the one card slot issue. I've taken plenty of one card cameras on holidays, just take a couple of cards, rotate them, I'm sure you won't have an issue, and if you do have issues on one day (super unlikely) you'll remember that day and all the shots because of it, and probably reflect on them more (in your brain) than gathering dust on a SSD somewhere.

At 16mm and 23mm f4's still pretty bad, it only starts to get 'reasonable' at f8. These are all the top right corner 1:1

The single slot is not the big deciding factor, but it is another factor on top of the FOMO
All this being said, one of the places I wanted the uwa for was the Sistine Chapel but I've just found out you're not allowed to take photos in there, despite there being a million and one photos on Flickr
But for places like St Peter's BasilicaI'd like some wide angle shots, likewise with the Trevi Fountain I'd like to get the whole fountain and building behind as well as some close ups. Similar story for the chapels in Florence, especially the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.

4 shot stitched pano - with quite a bit of straightening afterwards, in all honesty there is not a lot of room, so a stitch even with a UWA might be inevitable.
Definitely look into an evening Vatican visit though, must be booked in advance and only available on certain dates, well worth it, even if the taxi driver switched off the meter on the journey back
You haven’t had the full Rome experience if you don’t get ripped off somewhere on the visit!!!

If you can find a 33mm f1.4 you will prefer it, it's a much better lens. It's permenantly fixed to my T5, unless I'm shooting wildlife and need the 50-140 or 100-400.

I know you mentioned aperture rings, but if you can manage without the Viltrox 35mm Air F/1.7 is very light, and excellent.

Rome in season:-
Hot, dirty, dusty, thousands of tourists, queues and pickpockets everywhere (and then more queues or the feeling of being herded like cattle (ie The Vatican at the wrong time), lots and lots of walking (in the heat, etc), it is a very tiring city (well worth visiting though), but quite tough on the body.
In all honesty if you are wanting to keep the weight down, then I'd just add an X100-WCL to your X100VI and take that. It will be much more enjoyable carrying next to no weight in gear (remember your bag will probably weigh a kilo more as you will have to carry water with you)
Take the A1 + 16-35 if you must, it will work for the pre-breakfast Trevi fountain shot, but then just leave it in the hotel.
You won't get the wide angle shots you think you will, as there will just be too many people clutting up the scene.
You'll enjoy it much more taking just the X100VI

Using the X100VI is more enjoyable for sure, but from previous city breaks I do tend to use wide angle (16-24mm eq) more than anything else. I don't mind people being in my shots for city photos, it's what you'd expect. I went to NYC at Christmas time, I'm sure you can imagine how busy that was
I don't tend to carry other things, just buy drinks as and when needed.

Crikey. We're going mid May which, whilst not quite as bad as July and August I'm expecting it to be very busy. We plan on doing the main touristy hot spots first thing in the morning and then in the evening, staying away during the day. Likewise the other places we're visiting.Early September, an unforecast heatwave gave daily temps of around 38deg
