101 ways to ruin a roll of film

A roll of expired cinestill bit the dust in the Holga pinhole as the back wouldn't stay on after not wanting to come off when I loaded it. The back fell off the other holga twice. The last time I used this one it was perfectly fine so it's just decided to be an arse now.

Avoiding Holgas is a good way to avoid ruining film

Well, ruined half a roll.
Being a clever so and so, I stopped the film leader from rewinding into the can on my AF P&S by watching the exposure counter decrease until it hit 0, then popped the back open, just a crack to stop the process. It worked last time!
This time, it was nowhere near 0 and, as i closed the back, it loaded to the start point on a film that had a foot of the roll already wound.
This wouldn't have been a disaster, had I checked it in a dark bag, but I had to check there and then, in the sunlight. Around 18" of film still on the spool.
