Barclaycard fraudulent phone call this morning

Do you honestly think I would let someone out of my sight with my card?

i didn't suggest that you would but, as we're still on the subject, you seem to think using your physical card is safer than using your phone so you don't get everything right...

Apparently, the easiest time to steal a phone is when it's held to the ear, presumably unlocked. Once they have the unlocked phone, they have access to ALL the information you have in it so they can change contact details, delivery addresses etc.. They may even have the physical card if it's in the phone case (yes, some people do do that...)

I've not had any, but "err indoors" has had a good few, and twice someone tried a payment off her card, and the bank blocked it.
The bank told her they suspect it's takeaways and food delivery places selling the card details. They had a number and checking the accounts they all had a takeaways in common.
Thats not proof, but it makes you think.

Still need to use facial recognition or password to access settings, card info etc with Apple even if phone is unlocked

Not an apple user (neither do I do anything financial on my phone.)

nope you can't all financial apps need PIN or Fingerprint recognition to enter them even if you switch to another app it asks you to login again when you return to the app. also if you were to try to change an address the app will ask fur further information like mine any changes asks for master password.

all my phone apps are forced to use fingerprint except silly stuff like BBC news , i even have Facebook and watsapp now on fingerprint
it doesn't take much to protect apps and all banking and fin apps force you to and have done for years.

Yeah, as others have posted much safer with a phone rather than a card

i can genuinely understand why some want to use card than say phone, but i would say use contactless rather than insert card + use pin , that carries more risk as you have given potentially allowed your pin to be compromised, then if the card is cloned the thief has access to use it fully to purchase high value products.

IIRC you have to insert card. and use PIN every so many transactions or when value is over xxx £, been a while since I used a card so may have changed

The only potential issue is that using a physical card has a £100 limit for contactless. If you purchase something for £19.99 and the retailer has entered an extra 9 to the machine making it £199.99 it won't go through without a PIN. I understand that there is no such limit with Apple pay

Whilst the onus is on us to check the machine amount there are times when I certainly haven't paid 100% attention

not with revolut , they simply ask you to check in on there app every 10 days as verification

I often ‘forget’ my phone when going into town, no ‘can you pick up’ calls then when out, card only goes with me when when it’s a big spend, otherwise cash.
