Yes
I've been on a You Tube learning curve, and so far all the buttons seem to work.
There was an old film in it that can act as a practise run for the functions.
New batteries arriving tomorrow and then fingers crossed I can confirm it all works ok and take a walk with a roll of film.

Items that came with it.

Zuiko 50mm 1.8
Zuiko 50mm Macro 1:35
Zuiko 80mm Makro 1:1

A telescopic thingy for attaching the macros on the end and fitting to camera (bellows?)
Ring flash
Hot shoe flash
Additional view finder (no adaptor don't know how that fits the hot shoe)
Umpteen filters
Focusing rail
Hand grip
Few other cables and bits

Be careful with the flash hot shoe they are very brittle and prone to cracking.

Good for you Keith.

I'm less interested in cameras and more interested in lenses and I think the Zuiko lenses look lovely, they're pretty much how I'd imagine a lens to be although TBH I think that their aperture mechanics are noticeably clunky compared to the competition. I do like that 50mm f1.8 and although I've now sold all my Zuiko lenses I'll always have a soft spot for them. A Zuiko 28mm f2.8 would be a great lens to accompany that 50mm f1.8, IMO.

As I'm very very old now I used film for a lot longer than digital has existed. I have tried going back to film but it didn't work for me and I stayed with digital. I'll be interested to know how you get on Keith so I hope you'll post your thoughts and experiences and some pictures too if that's possible.

Good luck with it and have fun :D

They are great cameras. It seems like the previous owners were very into macro photography.
Enjoy !
It was sitting in a store room at work, must have been used for some kind of testing/pictorial records back in the film era. I don't think it has been touched for around 20 years.

The 50mm 1.8 does look great, all the dials and numbers ! A very different time and a bit of a learning curve ahead, but from what I watched on YT I think I can have some fun. I'm the same as you, digital will be my main way forward, but such a cool looking camera I had to grab the chance to take it home and see what I can do with it.

Check out the light seals, after this long, I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't gone all crusty.

You will Love it Keith, Great glass and great metering, flick it into auto and away you go. If you can check the shutter curtain make sure the pattern is all good.

So I installed new batteries and loaded a roll of Ilford B&W that was spare.
Seems okay, however, in auto mode the shutter locks up and you have to push the dial up to battery test, then it closes and you can wind on.
Happens a lot less in manual.

Perhaps the meter has failed, and so it's trying to give you a correct exposure in auto.

Google Olympus OM2 mirror lock up and there are several articles and videos.

Did you use Silver oxide batteries, the Olympus cameras don't like alkaline batteries

Well it seemed to be working fine today so fingers crossed for the images when I get them back, hopefully by the end of next week.
