WAMT....what annoyed me today!

This morning I was walking to the shop to get the daily paper for my mother. As I approached the corner at the end of my street an idiot on a bike came hurtling round the corner on the pavement, nearly knocking me over..... The old guy on the bike never even said sorry!!!

The ordinary two piece Kitkat seems to have disappeared from my local ASDA a Tesco. I can get Kitkats in packets of just one chunky or 4 packs but the usual two packs have vanished. I wonder why.
Googling tells me they haven't disappeared. Good. But there aren't any in my local supermarkets and I'm refusing to buy the four packs. In the meantime I bought chocolate fingers.

Some chocolate definitely doesn't taste the same. Many of the makers have changed the recipes, cheaper or just different beans, addition of veg / palm oil etc. I don't know if this is all due to genuine cost issues or just good old corporate greed.
One thing apart from the changing taste that annoys me is that it's difficult to find thick chocolate any more. It all seems to be wafer thin these days. I'd rather just pay the extra cost for a good thick bar.

Cadbury can no longer call their bars chocolate any more as they do not use enough Coca in them.

Yorkie Bars don't taste anything like what I remember. I saw somewhere that the coca solids haven't changed from 25%, but they are definitely different, softer and tastes cheap.
I found this, the bottom one is from 2002 and the middle one is 2024. Look at the size difference!

Someone on here responded to my post when I was complaining about Magnum reducing their 4 pack white/dark/milk chocolate bars to three but cost just a bit less than they were when there were four. At the time, all manufacturers were indulging in 'shrinkflation'. Anyway, whoever it was suggested I go to Lidl and buy their own brand but he forgot to tell me what it was called..lol. I did go and had to ask a member of staff what their own brand was called . It's Gelateli and Bon Gelati. I could barely taste the difference, if atall, and when we shop there now and then, I top up the bottom container of the freezer with a variety of them. Magnums are quite large and Lidl do that size but also mini choc ices..white and dark choclolate and they are just right. They sell a mix box too..white and dark chocolate in mini sizes.
Re their chocolate. We sometimes buy Lindt and it's hard to beat. It's real quality. I'll try a bar of Lidl,though after your recommendation and also this review by Good Housekeeping in 2016.

The hamper..about £42.. has a dozen or so small boxes with a variety of their lines. My wife prefers them to Lindt because they have a cocoa coating ..she says it gives them some 'depth' whatever that means. The url (Amazon) is very long but if you Google that you can see what it is. Here are the varieties that you can buy in any mainstream UK supermarket. They really are extremely 'moreish'..lol. Almost addictive

When we lived in the US we could get cadburys chocolate at a particular shop but you had to check where it was made - uk, Ireland, Poland or South Africa. They all tasted different and were not the same as or as good as from the uk

Didn’t realise this was even possible until the other day.
Obviously once they know they can do this they take the micky, I think that should stop if they keep doing it.

It seems very strange to remove the licence from someone who is already driving without a licence, so why do the courts do this?

I agree. I think the court should not consider any impact on innocent third parties.
If someone has responsibilities for others which require the use of a car then they should not drive in a way that ends up with them getting points on their licence.

Lindt is on another level as is Hotel Chocolat IMHO.
As for Lidl Bon Gelati individual ice creams, they are a naughty pleasure for me, the almond ones particularly.

Years ago, when I worked in London, I was crossing over zebra crossing when a cyclist shouted at me to get out of the way, I just pushed him off the bike, he went down with a heck of a thump. Then waled over and said, I had priority on the crossing. He was moaning that his bike looked damaged, I just walked back to the office. The amount of time I have seen cyclists in London jump red lights, go over crossings while in use, and ride up on the pavement is probably why I still have very little time for them anywhere, especially when riding 2 or 3 abrest on country lanes as they do around here.

As I have got older, I am not so bothered about dessert on a daily basis, but those Lidl choc ices are just the ticket if you don’t fancy too much and their chocolate bars are very nice as well

I have a hospital bed which was supplied by the NHS. We're moving to a bungalow at the end of the moth, but because we're moving to a different county, the company have to collect the current one and another company has to deliver the new one to the new address.
Annoyance 1: The company can only give a 4 hour slot on the day, so could be any time. Not great when completion has to happen by 1pm.
Annoyance 2: Because we're moving to a different authority, the referral and prescription for the bed have to be restarted. This can't happen until after we've moved and can take up to 12 weeks!
We've been left with no choice but to fund a new bed ourselves!

So sorry to hear that Marc, what a complete shambles.
That is frustrating. I know my father in law got one on ebay that had only been used for a few weeks for absolute steal.
WAMT today. Sat in a hospital car park with a sleeping toddler whilst a relative attends an appointment. Had the windows open but the gentleman in the next car has sat in the car and started the engine for the last 30 minutes filling the air with diesel fumes... Assuming he is running his Aircon...

And this says all you need to know about the current state of the NHS. It's no longer a National service but a series of little fiefdoms full of accountants paid to shuffle imaginary money not only between internal departments but also individual fiefdoms, what an absolutely stupid system and a colossal waste of money.
I have know doubt that your returned bed to your local fiefdom will most likely be scraped another ridicules waste of money.

If wondering why the NHS is in a state, I would start with looking at the waste and go from there. AI returns this:

I have know doubt you're figures are corrector, I was replying to a specific post, and the absurdity of it, a patient has an item the patient needs the item but they have to return said item to their NHS trust and another NHS trust then has to asses the need for said item and resupply the item all which will no doubt cost the NHS a considerable amount in both time and money. The NHS is divided into little fiefdoms costing us the taxpayer billions, I can give one from personal experience soon after my daughter was born she became very ill due to kidney problems and had to have corrective surgery, at the time we lived on the Isle of Lewis, after the surgery she had to attended regular appointments to check everything was working as it should and to deal with ongoing problems from the surgery eventually needing a second operation, my wife and daughter would be flown from Stornoway to Aberdeen via Inverness met at Aberdeen by an ambulance and taken to the hospital she would then see the consultant who would order a MCUG scan my wife and daughter would then travel back to Aberdeen airport by ambulance and fly back to Stornoway this time via Glasgow a week or so later they would do the whole thing again to get the scan and about a week or so later they would do a third journey to see the consultant about the results, when I enquired as to whether it would be possible to have the scan before seeing the consultant and then an appointment to see the consultant later that day getting rid of the need for the two extra round trips I was told that the consultant had to see the patient before he could authorise the scan and then requesting it from the x ray department even though he new that there was no point in seeing the patient until the scan was done. Now while I accept that hospital have to have procedures this just struck me as a colossal waste of money.
