Best place to get films processed and scanned.

FD don't do processing only. I think the darkroom in Cheltenham do. I think their turnaround is quite quick. A few use them so they're a known quantity.

FD normally put a message on their website if they're more busy than normal or on holiday.

FilmDev with the small scans is still cheaper than Darkroom without though. £6 v £7.70.

NiknTrik after exactly 3 weeks said processing was complete. They seem to have posted out the negatives within hours of completion. Only I haven't had a download link. There's nothing in the account area with the download information either. Completion email was lunchtime yesterday so I expected scans soon after.

I emailed them this morning and they said the scans had been sent a while ago but I've not had the link which is weird as normally wetransfer ones don't tend to go missing. They've emailed a link to the ECN2 films only and not the B & W. Scans are dated 7th so they have been done a while. So it's annoying the download email didn't arrive.

ECN2 look ok but they don't do any rotation which is a bit disappointing on the P17 as it means correcting a lot of them. The developing is much better and there aren't the weird marks like there were on the AW dev and scans.

They have been quick to re-send the missing ones so can't complain. Actual scan quality seems pretty good. I think without the wetransfer emails going missing it would have been a better experience so will definitely give them another go at some point.

Filmdev remain top of the tree. I never have to do anything at all. Just weed out the duffers and shove them on flickr.

Althoiugh FD don't do dev only, their included basic scan at £6 still makes it great value.
I like have the basic scan as a We Transfer as it shortens the time between finishing the roll and the inevitable disappointment.

NiknTrick negs arrived ok today as they were sent out on Wednesday of this week. So that's good. I don't think I will use them again as the lack of rotation and B & W developing issues have put me off. Their standard scan looks the same resolution as the FilmDev medium. 3xxx by 2 xxx or so. Their own re-spool was 3xxx by 4xxx in the P17.

Darkroom UK in Cheltenham do dev-only, in fact IMHO it's far too expensive to use them for scans. They are usually very quick, and have a Freepost label. Never had a problem with them. They use XTOL I believe. Last time I asked, Filmdev and AG used IlfoTec DD (commercial variant of DD-X).
