    Aurora Colours

Colourful Northern Lights on the Glacier lagoon at Jökulsárlón in South Iceland. This was a moonless night which I would recommend for beter colours.

    Diamond Beach Aurora

In 2014 I was lucky enough to be on the Diamond Beach in Iceland during a very strong Northern Lights storm. I used my Magic Cloth Technique to give the glacier ice a bit of extra exposure.

    Magic Beach

This photo was taken on the Diamond Beach - a black sand beach in East Iceland near Jokulsarlon. This was a 15 second at f/16, iso200 and a 6-stop ND filter. I used the Magic Cloth Technique to dodge the sky and burn the beach - making the ice glow.

    Svartifoss Waterfall

This is from the Svartifoss waterfall in Skaftafell National Park, Iceland. Did you spot the rainbow? As rainbows go, this is quite a disappointment. I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to unscrew my 6-stop ND. The 5 second exposure almost destroyed the rainbow. In retrospect, I would have...

Which filmstocks would you take to Iceland and Norway?

Next week I am traveling to Norway and Iceland for two weeks. I am super excited to shoot some film there! I plan to shoot mostly nature and landscapes and possibly some architecture as well. Which filmstocks would you recommend taking? I was thinking mostly Ektar 100, Fuji C200 and maybe Fuji...

    B&W Hallgrimskirkja

Took this in Reykjavik in September while in the mandatory 5 day quarantine (we were allowed out to walk about). It is the Lutheran Church that was commissioned in the 1930's and designed to resemble the Basalt columns, Glaciers and Volcanos found all over Iceland.

    Chicane - Iceland

Back in the summer I walked the Laugavegur Trail again in Iceland. It's an incredible trek, well worth doing. We did it at the start of the season and so there was still a lot of snow around. Although you'll cross the odd snowfield even late in the season, it was quite something to see the...

Iceland 2016 - whales and birds

Hello TalkPhotography =) After a very long hiatus (to finish my post grad work) I am trying to claw my way back into the various hobbies I had to neglect over the last few years, and photography is high up on my list of things I'd love to get back into and try to improve on. I've been on two...

    Over crowded Iceland

Just watched a news piece on YouTube about tourism in Iceland and how booming it is, so much so they are struggling to keep up with demand. Anyway they had some video of the more popular places and dear God it was like Brighton beach on the first warm day of the year. Just too many people...

    The Aurora Awakens, Iceland

The Aurora Awakens, Vestrahorn, Iceland... I remember this night fondly, I and yung were resting at dynjandi, when I told Yung, I think we should go and try and shoot the aurora tonight as the aurora indicators were showing a possible chance, and it turned out to be a rather nice choice, it was...

The Little Church on the Hill

What a pretty incredible place Iceland is ... One from September 2015 (in fact shot on my birthday) .. Shot on the Canon 1DX with the 70-200 (@140mm) .... Probably only one of a handful of non sports stuff I've shot with the Canon over the past 12 months. With me taking a step back from the...
