My wife has been bumping her gums of late about the weight of my 40D/Grip/Flash outfit and would like something a bit lighter and more purse friendly, so with this in mind can anyone suggest a decent POS for about £100 (or maybe a bit more but not much as I'd rather spend the cash on my SLR :p)?

Cheers :D

We picked up my daughter a Panasonic compact around February time for use on school trips, parties etc and it's a great camera - think it was around £125 (was on offer at the time). I'm a Canon fan, but having tried out the IXUS - in the similar price range - preferred the Panasonic compact.

Hope this helps

the panny lumix series is a very good budget compact, my aunt has a tz5 a few years back and it was really nice to hold and brillant IQ. also try the sony series because the s series of there models are good cheap compacts for under £100, however one thing with my old sony w55 is that i took it to school one day to take a few pictures for a school project however the battery ran out and the lens never zoomed back into the body instead it stuck out so i put it in its case but the lens ended up being budged and locked t the one side so i thought it was broke until i managed to snap it back into place.

hope this helps.

Cheers guys, I'm looking at the Panasonic FS7 and FS15 at the moment, I'd idealy preffer a canon (having had canon POS's before) but their prices are quite hefty however the panasonics seem to get good reviews so I'll look into that option further.

I appreciate at this price point I'm not going to get much but I figure there must be a few good ones out there so thanks for the pointers so far and if anyone else would like to chuck a suggestion into the hat please feel free :)
