£150 on a tripod and head

if you guys had £150 for a tripod and head what would you go for?

What type of head is best?

i had £100 and went for the RedSnapper legs and Ball Head. I have absolutely NO regrets what so ever!

Its a great, sturdy tripod. Its got a bit of weight to it, so if that bothers you, then it might not be ideal.

As for which is the best head, i would be interested to see the discussion of that matter!

if you can stretch abit you should be able to afford a Manfrotto 190XPROB and 460MG Head which from my small amount of playing seem to be good , have yet to use it in anger though

The redSnapper will be good for use in anger, it has spikes on the bottom

Cant argue with the build quality of redsnapper. Did have a £35 Sony one, and ok, redsnapper is 3 times the price but is ten times the quality. Have a ball head, 50/50 whether this or 3 way is best.

I have a 190 pro and a redsnapper,so can comment from experience......

For landscape and versatility, the 190. For heavy lenses and robustness,the RS.........

I use both according to what i`m doing at the time.

Well I have a 450D and hoping to get a nice wide angle at some point nothing too heavy!

Thinking I will go with the manfrotto get a trusted name!

They showed us them at the TP convention. Is the model an 050 or something like that. They wrote it down for me. The trigger was £80 on its own and the tripod was £140 if I remember. Lots of people were buying this special combo so plenty of people on here should know the two part numbers

I know devon camera have them as I looked at it but bought a diff head for landscape stuff

and its not just the weight its the intended purpose, its a bitch to line up a horizon nicely on a ball head but 3 ways suck for portraits or sport

I went for a Manfrotto and an 804RC2 3-way head, and am really pleased with it. Haven't tried a RS so can't make a comparison.
