Yes
I have been given a £50 Jessops voucher (I don't have much more cash I can add to it) what shall I get?!

I have a Nikon D60, 18-55, 55-200, Jessops 360afd flash and various filters already, decent bag, spare battery, and have just been given a basic tripod. Not sure what I should get next?

For £50 the only thing that could really aid your photography is a tripod.

If you dont need/require a tripod, keep it and put it towards something more significant in the future.

Just save up a bit of cash and use it as a £50 discount to something mega like a new body / lens

I hear you can buy an afternoon of 'delight' with woodsy

lack of satisfaction guaranteed, we accept no liability for aids......

Yes, I have a polariser, although only a cheap one- I had wondered about a 'proper' one, would I notice the difference?

What is the wheels fund?

A canvas is very tempting- didn't realise they did that there. I usually use photobox for any photobooks etc, do they do similar at Jessops then?

I know I should save it towards something bigger -any suggestions for a lens?

I saw that, what would that lens be good for? and what is IQ? sorry for ignorance!

50mm is a great value lens, as with all primes, image quality (IQ) should be very sharp and clear, not fuzzy or blurred. Take the same pic with this and your kit lens and you will see a difference. BUT, the lens is manual focus on the D60. Fine for some things, but not fast moving kids!

You could try to sell on here for say £35/£40?

As I never tire of saying, a 35mm f/1.8AF-S is a much more useful lens on a D60 than a 50mm f/1.8AF, for two reasons.

Firstly, the 50mm is a 75mm-equivalent on a crop sensor so it's a very long normal or a very short tele. Not a very commonly needed focal length. Secondly, it doesn't autofocus, which is a pain on the D60 with its rather small viewfinder.

Personally I always grab the 35mm AF-S when I need a fast normal on APS-C. The only time I'll use my 50mm is when I need some night sky shots - it has a hard infinity stop. Focusing the night sky with the 35mm AF-S is nigh on impossible.

Using 6% Jessops cashback and your voucher, you can buy the only lens you ever really need for £109. Bargain.

I think this is the route I would take on the D60, you will be well pleased.

Thanks for the explanation cambsno

Martsharm and cowasaki, yes, I think that's just what I'll do. I'm sure I can achieve a little stash each month!

Hang around the till and wait for someone to buy something substantial and swap your voucher for their cash and head to the pub.
