I've recently bought a raynox 250 which i've been using with my 18-70mm kits lens and attempted it with my 75-300mm. I've been offered a 100mm true 1.1 macro lens. How much of a difference is there between a true 1.1 and what i'm currentlly using??

Damn good question.
I'm looking forward to seeing the replies as I'm in a similar situation.
Can't decide to get a 1:1 or a Raynox.......

The raynox is very good, but i've never tried a dedicated 1.1 macro so i'm unsure

I've got the Canon 100mm f2.8 and the Raynox 250 but was waiting for someone with more experience to answer.
From a novices PoV, the Raynox is classed as super macro (closer than 1:1) although the exact mag I'm not sure of. The offset of this is that the DoF is very much smaller and good light much harder to obtain, Therefore many prefer to use a focussing rail and ring flash to get better pics.

The other thing to consider is distance from object, with the 100mm the closest is around 12inches whereas the Raynox needs to go in to around 3 inches or less.
