1.4 Teleconverter

Just ordered a Canon 300mm F4 IS and want to get a converter for it. I'm not using a weather sealed body so I doubt I need the weather sealing of the Canon. Should I still go for it or the Kenko DGX seems pretty good from what I hear.

I have the 3oomm f4, and use a Tokina/Kenko 1.4, it's the same colour as the lens, not black like the usual Kenko, I get great results with it, I put a couple of sots from today in the Bird forum - http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=323523

I've got the Kenko DGX 300 Pro 1.4x and the original Canon 1.4x TC (in a battered state!).

Generally I find the Kenko has slightly more contrast, but shows more purple fringing than the Canon TC. You can still get the Kenko for £130.00 from DigitalRev, and it will fit nearly all, if not all, EF lenses. The Canon is less versatile in that respect.
