Yes
I need a 1/4" thumbscrew, as a softbox adaptor I got with my softbox comes with a cold shoe mount, but as I use CTR-301 triggers I don't have a shoe, just a 1/4" socket.

So, all I can find is that it's 1/4". Does anyone know what type? UNF, UNC, etc?

Failing that I'll have to try to find some thread gauges at work.

I'm not sure what you're asking...

If you're asking about the socket in the base of your camera designed for a tripod, then believe or not - but from memory it's whitworth!

Excellent - cheers chaps! Should have some Whitworth bolts at work so can make a new thumbscrew :)

Sorry I didn't make myself clearer!

Thanks for that.

Luckilly we had some 1/4" BSW bolts at work, so one of those and a knoblet will do the job nicely :)

unc and whit are interchangeable for all normal use except 1/2 in ( unc is 13 tpi and whit is 12 tpi at ½ in )other than that whit thread angle is 55 deg and unc is 60 deg but they fit together ok

Whitworth stuff seems very hard to get hold of!

I stumbled across this guy who makes bits for old British motorbikes. Got him to knock me up some custom bolts for a couple of quid each. Custom length, head, turned shaft etc www.polished-stainless.com
