1.4tc or extension tubes or both ?

Hi all

really want to get into macro this year , got a tamron 90mm which I love & have had some reasonable results with the 1st tries last year . What I'd really like is one of those MPE len's but belive they are only for Canon body's .

Have had a hunt round the web & on here & in order to get greater magnification it looks like I have 2 options :

1.4x TC...belive the Kenko one is good ? would it work with the tamron & D7000 ?
Set of extension tubes ? there seem to be many variations so not sure which ones Id be better buying
Or both of the above ?

As an aisde , I also have a tamron 18-270 , would the above work with that as well ?

I'm interested to know if anyone has used any of the above in combination with the tamron 90mm & what results you've got with them .I'm using the D7000 , a shot I did yesterday worked really well with a heavy crop but would like to get bigger images to mean less cropping . An example of what I mean is the shot of a Weevil posted in the macro section , belive it was taken with an MPE lens & its huge in comparison with the teeny one I managed

Any other bright ideas welcomed as well
