1 time travel insurance

Are there any companies that will insure my gear for a 1 time trip? I don't need cover whilst at home as my mums home insurance covers it but what about taking it abroad?

If your mum has it covered on all risks then it is probably already covered for travel abroad, check with the insurer. (usually some geographical limits)

If it isn't on all risks then it isn't covered outside of the house.

You can get cover on your travel insurance, though it depends on the value of the gear and the nature of the insurance whether or not this will be sufficient.

I suppose there is a potential problem with you making the claim on your mother's insurance too but this may not be a problem.

As long as you are covered and don't go back in time past when the cover started I don't see any issue.......

I had this problem recently - normal travel insurance wouldn't cover the value and none of the specialists I tried would insure for only a few days.

In the end I checked the home contents insurance and it's covered on that, so just booked normal travel insurance.
