Hi this is my new Netphew at 1 week old.

I took a couple of photo's first time using my flashes.

I only use 1 with a softbox as i was in a very small room.

Please let me no what you think so i can get better.

I'll have another look tomorrow without tired eyes, but the processing looks overcooked to me, he looks a bit doll-like.

Was there much skin smoothing done?
 
I think if you can redo the post-processing on this one you will have a great shot. But like others the first thing I noticed was the overcooked processing. You've got good composition, great eye contact and the photo looks sharp, so give it another go and re-post. I'd love to see it without the processing!
 
Almost thought it was one of those 'reborn' dolls. defo undo some of the process and see how that looks
 
Agree, with newborns I like to see 'warts n all' rather than the smooth look.
 
No wonder the edit looked so overdone - he has very smooth skin for a newborn and in my opinion, needs no skin smoothing at all. Much prefer this version to the pp'd one. Look forward to seeing more.
 
Second is much better, I could not get passed the eye colour of the first.

Lovely shot and great eye contact, I agree with all other comments that the 2nd version looks far better and a lot more natural looking.
