100-400 zoom lens for Canon 600d

The camera my son is going to buy is a Canon EOS R7, here's another question, would it make more sense to buy a lens compatible with this camera rather than one for the 600d and then use an adaptor?

If I were buying tomorrow, I’d buy RF glass for my RF cameras, but my EF lenses work perfectly with the adaptor.

That said, I wouldn’t advise others to only buy RF lenses, as I said the EF lenses all work fantastically, and people should buy whatever suits their needs. I might not advise buying really old 3rd party lenses, as there could be a firmware update in the future that cripples them, the mitigation for that simply being to not do all the updates (I don’t do them all)

Personally, I’m now down to only 2 EF lenses, the Tamron 17-35 wide angle that I could never justify replacing because I don’t use wide angle lenses often, and the 135 f2 which is my favourite lens, but also for the little use it gets, there’s no way I can justify buying the RF 135.

In fact as I’ve said prior, I used the original 70-200 2.8L on my R6, the R6 has IBIS, so not only was my 70-200 as good as it’d ever been on my EF cameras, it was actually better than it’d ever been.

But you need to bear in mind that RF lenses can’t be used on your 600d, whereas an EF lens can be used on both cameras
