thinking of buying Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM Lens whats quality of the lens compared to canon 100-400mm i know big price difference so its not really apples for apples any thoughts
All I can say is the 100-400 is a really great everyday lens. Some say it's a bit soft but mine is razor sharp, ok not quite up to the 300 f2.8 but then neither's the price, and if you can live with 5.6 at 400, go for it.

While I can not comment on the Sigma v's Canon, here's my thoughts.
I have the 100-400 and I like it. BUT I really do wonder now whether I should have bought the 400mm prime. I say this as I rarely use anything less than 400mm as it is for wildlife and birds. Would you use anything less than 400mm? What are you looking at using this lens for?
Just my ramblings - But where I am at the moment and something I wish I'd been thinking of prior to my purchase.
