So, I've just used up a roll of 126 in a KODAC INSTAMATIC

Can you get 126 easily ? can I respool ? anything I should know before I break open the canister to develop it


I will google, but it'as nice to get local advice before going 'out there' !

You'll have no doubt come across frugal photographer by now.
126 seems to be hard to come by now. Something that I tried with 110 cartridges which might work with 126 is to poke something pointy through the window on the back of the cartridge, so you can grab the backing paper and pull it and the film out (obviously in a darkroom/changing bag). This might be a bit fiddly, but it should mean that you can cut open he cartridge carefully in daylight with a view to reassembly rather than breaking it open blind to get the film out.
Then you can go on to the process at instructables and develop the original film. Sounds like a cool little project.
