Hi, I have a canon 15-85 as my walkabout lens just wandering peeps thoughts on what to pair it up with, don't need anything wider would like something longer was thinking maybe 70-300 or 300f4, would be using it for some wildlife or the yearly air show visit! I've previously owned a siggy 150-500 but found it to bulky and struggled with camera shake at long range!!

You need to give us a more info! If you want to keep costs down, the Tamron 70-300mm VC USD lens is excellent, especially at longer range. There are many options if you want to spend more, depending on your priorities (reach vs quality and max aperture, size/weight, cost etc.).

Sorry I should no better than that!
Cost is prob main factor! I think if money wasn't an issue I'd just get a canon 300 f4! At least with that I have the option of 1.4tc
I don't want to compromise quality though, I'm really impressed with my 15-85 so prob want the best within reason!
What I don't want to do is buy a lens then 6 months down the line wished I'd saved those extra pounds for better glass!!
It's paired up with a 60d!
When it comes to weight I found the 150-500 to heavy and cumbersome I also found it quite slow in bad light and with the way the weather seems to be going then the faster the better!!
I walk a lot and don't sit in a hide with camera on tripod!!
Think I'm probably answering my own Q just seeing if I've not thought of something!

Thanks for input Wayne this was an option I was looking at! Would this lens be far superior than the tamron vc or the canon non L version!

From the research I've done the Canon L should be a little better, but I've found the Tamron to be pretty amazing for the money. As I said it's at its best at longer distances, but that's how I always use it. I've always been one to want the best kit I can afford, but I'm keeping the Tamron and selling my 70-200 f/4 IS L as the extra reach is more useful to me than the small quality difference. I'd definitely take the Tamron over the cheaper Canon, as the Canon's contrast/colour at the long end is weak, and the Tamron's focusing is better for fast moving subjects.

Thanks gcogger, this was the lens I had in mind, it seems to get very good reviews! And not a bad price! I Spose it'll give me an idea if this is a good length or not for what I want to photograph!!
 
There's also something of a bargain going HERE - that Sigma is a great lens and faster than the Tamron at the long end. It is rather heavy, however (somehow it feels heavier than it is, so maybe it's a tad front-heavy).
