1680 x 1050 screen looks stretched

My 22" monitors native re is 1680 x 1050 but it looks a little stretched vertically. Anyone else having this problem?

That might be the native resolution of your screen, but it may well be the case that your graphics card isn't outputting that resolution.

Check your display settings.

Thanks, all that looks correct. Maybe its my eyes getting used to it.
 
Well the big test is to see if a circle is round. Find a picture of something you know to be circular and compare it to a real life circle held against the screen.

(Sounds a bit comical but it's a good test).
 
no its defo stretched, its not my eyes:) It's a acer al2216 connected via a dvi to hdmi cable. Both windows and my graphics card recognise the model and set the correct res of 1680 x 1050, yet it still does not look correct. I can't for the life of me work out why?
 
Why would you be using a dvi/hdmi cable? Can't you just plug the DVI straight in, or is it that the HDMI port is the only spare on the graphics card?

Have you tried swapping the monitor to another graphics port (like an onboard one)?
 
No i have had the screen for a ages but was only getting 1600 x 1200 max with the vga cable so though i would give a digi connection a go.

Did 1600 x 1200 look right on the monitor?
 
Sorry to waste your time guys. Its really strange, I decided to open a new page in photoshop with equal sides, then measured it on the screen with a tape measure. To my surprise both sides measured the same. So i goes it is my eyes after all! I't weird even my mrs said it wasn't square?

Because if it did, it's just your eyes adjusting ;)
 
If you've been able to display 1680x1200 on the screen then it doesn't have a native res of 1680x1050
