How do you get your images onto your PC?

I'm finding USB from camera very slow (image transfer is much slower than my 30D) and when the camera's connected with Firewire, my PC says the it needs a driver for the camera which a little research reveals doesnt exist (no 64bit Windows driver support for the 1D2/2N :bonk:).

Is a card reader the only way? If so, which are you using, can you recommend one? (Preferably Firewire as my motherboard only has USB2.0 and Firewire 1394a available onboard).

I'm using a Lexar Pro UDMA Dual Slot (CF/SD) USB 2.0 Card Reader at present.
No problems at all and fairly reasonable transfer. Lexar do have a USB 3.0 Reader available now but like yourself I have no USB 3.0 onboard.
 
My 1DMK11n is pretty flaky plugging into W7 64bit. To be honest like most users here I choose to use a Lexar Pro USB 3.0 dual slot reader over a direct connection. Ironically it works pretty well with my ipad :)
 
After a bit of research it seems the older Firewire 400 standard devices (as supported by my motherboard) could have issues with some of the newer/larger CF cards.

Looks like a USB Lexar Pro is the way to go, and as USB3.0 is backward compatible I may as well get the USB3.0 model.

My Lexar Pro Dual slot USB 3.0 card reader arrived from Dabs 'smorning. Works a treat on my USB 2.0 motherboard, much faster than hooking the camera up. :thumbs:
