1D MarkIV help

I am thinking of getting a 1D Mark IV in a couple of days. The only long lenses I have are the Canon 100-400 + 1.4 TC and the Sigma 150-500.
Is the 1D too good (overkill} for these lenses. I normally use a 7D. Am I right in thinking that using these lenses at f8 means that I can only use center point. One last thing. Will I be able to crop an image as much as the 7D, often necessary with bird photography.

Thanks for any advice.

Let's see. Both lenses are rather soft at longer focals (compared to 400mm f/5.6L or faster L glass). I doubt that 7D with it's crazy high pixel density can resolve much more than less dense but bigger 1D. I'd certainly consider a long prime as an alternative.

I don't think that "overkill" is part of the equation regardless of the lenses.
I've had my 1d4 for just over a week now,I haven't used either of those lenses, I've used a 300 f4 and a 400 f5.6 both with and without a kenko 1.4x TC.
I can say, purely subjectively, that I have been able to crop easily as much as on my 7d and the images are without doubt "cleaner" to my eyes.
When ISO is raised above 600 then the comparison becomes almost absurd.
I was playing around with ISOs of 2000 and higher in dim woodland on Sunday morning and the results were impressive. Failing to expose to the right will still yield poor results, you can't defeat the laws of physics no matter how much money you throw at it.
