1d mk 3 terminal cap

The one that unscrews?

I am told it is called a TOE cap by some, yet I can't find one anywhere. I can't believe that Canon still can't design a decent screw-in piece of plastic on a camera that cost £0000s. I had exactly the same issue with a smaller but almost identical cap on the ancient EOS 1N over 15 years ago, I ended up ordering them in bulk....somewhere I still have a small plastic bag of them. Come on Canon, it's pathetic that you can still get this wrong. Until I can find the replacement part, which no doubt will be a fiver for 2p worth of plastic, I'm using the metal screw-in thing that came with the camera for securing a USB cable. Looks crap and sticks out but does the job.

I was going to suggest the metal USB screw but it sure does stick out a good bit. Does the job I suppose.

Any idea what that terminal is actually used for? Doesn't explain its purpose in the manual.

Hi Marty

Thanks for the link, ordered 3 - Gary if you want to reimburse me 1/3 of the cost (which was £13.63 for 3) plus a second class stamp, I'll send you one when they arrive. Sounds crap for a piece of plastic the same size and worth as a 5p piece, but there it is....no obligation, I just couldn't face spending 6 quid for a single one.

And Marty, the terminal is used to let water into the camera when you lose the cap.....

Excellent idea :-)

Let me know how you want the money.

Cheers,

Gary

You mean you haven't got one? :D

Nope... :'( But thanks for letting me know!

No problem Jonathan, the caps are supposedly notorious for unscrewing. Not had a problem with mine yet though although I made sure its screwed in tight.

Haha, since I don't have the WFT-E2 I can still use the port for something!
